what do i need to keep in mind today? the fool (reversed)

The Fool represents the querent as a traveller on their journey through a particular stage in life. It has themes of newness, openness, curiosity, and adventure. Reversed card indicate that a card's energy is blocked, distorted, or inverted.

The card shows a person having a leisurely walk, and they're blissfully unaware of the cliff crumbling beneath them. The scent of the flower they hold is more interesting. The flower appears to be wilting. It hardly feels worth the attention. The Fool should be paying attention to other, more worthwhile things.

My eye is most drawn to the flower. I feel somewhat annoyed by it. The card as a whole feels tense and frustrating.

The Fool in any tarot deck is usually an optimistic card, even if it is fraught with risk. After all, you can't find adventure if you never leave your comfort zone. And because this card is reversed, it seems to indicate a journey going in the in wrong direction. This combined with my feelings of frustration around the flower seems to warn me that I'm putting too much energy into the wrong thing. What could that be?

My immediate thought is the news and keeping up with current events. It's 2026, and the news is all bad. While I think it's important to stay up-to-date and not ignore the unkindness of the world, it can be pretty damaging to my mood and mental health if I look at it too long. The crumbling cliff in the card is my hope and joy. I shouldn't ignore them to gawk at things I know will hurt me.
